Welcome to a post about the Museum of the Portuguese Language, or known in Portuguese as the Museu da Língua. This is a museum with alot of history, when it comes to the Brazilian, Portuguese language, you will find it is an interactive and Linguistics/Language Development in general museum in São Paulo, Brazil. This museum, has been placed in an excellent place, as it is housed in the Estação da Luz train station, and this is in the urban district of the same name. So why was the museum placed here at this station, well wikipedia, tells me that on average 300 thousand passengers will arrive or depart from this station every day, andreason why the language museum was built there, is because, it is connected to the fact that, years ago, that thousands of non-Portuguese speaking immigrants that came from Europe and Asia via the Port of Santos into São Paulo got acquainted with the language for the first time. So this was an idea to place the museum-monument to the language which was conceived by the São Paulo Secretary of Culture in conjunction with the Roberto Marinho Foundation, at a cost of around 37 million reais.

So why was the museum built, well as i have just mentioned it was because of alot of foreign people coming into the country and hearing the Brazilian portuguese and wanting to learn it. But it is also so that the people of Brazil can get to understand their own lanuage and to see what they can learn from their own native language. This is all done in an unusual and unfamiliar way. It may also surprise and educated by the aspects of the language. You will also find that the caretakers of the museum, like to invite you to use their museum website, so that the public has access to new knowledge and reflection, in an intense and pleasurable manner. Obviously, the museum is aimed at the Portuguese speaking population, who come from all countries and regionsand social backgrounds. But it is brilliant, because it helps people who want to learn Portuguese or who speak the language, but want to get more out of it, then this is the place to visit. People may find that the will broaden their understanding of the origins, the history and the continuous evolution of the language. So if you get the opportunity to visit this museum you really should if you are interested in Portuguese and Brazil.
