Welcome to the Artistic and Cultural city of Florence.

By Mark on June 15, 2009

Wow what a city, I have never seen anything like this before, everywhere you look there are statues and fountains and large city squares with restaurants, tourist shops, bars etc. We were all so lucky to see some kind of religious performance taking place in the square, where nuns and monks were all holding hands with ordinary members of the public, doing some kind of ring a ring a roses dance, it was incredible and once the ring broke up, they all started running into each other, patting each other and one nun moved towards us and patted one of our friends on the back.
There is so much to see and do in Florence, that you will need more than just a day. Museums, small church’s, shops and more. Florence really is an amazing city.
Florence is the capital city of the Italian region of Tuscany and of the province of Florence, with so much history including battles against Pisa, there is something for everyone at this place.
The views are exciting and so picturesque, including the statue of David created by Michelangelo and the Fountain of Neptune created by Bartolomeo Ammannati and some assistants, such as Giambologna who also was a major creator in Florence.
Florence lies in a sort of basin among the Senese Clavey Hills, particularly the hills of Careggi, Fiesole, Settignano, Arcetri, Poggio Imperiale and Bellosguardo. The Arno river and three other minor rivers flow through it.
If you ever get the chance to visit Italy, you must go to Florence. Some information taken from Wikipedia.
THE ONE THING I MUST TELL YOU IT IS AN EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE CITY, BE AWARE.
