Naha is the capital city of the Japanese prefecture of Okinawa, which is an island south of mainland Japan in Asia, it a modern city which was discovered on May 20, 1921. This city though had been around for many centuries and is one of the most important and populous sites in the Ryukyu Islands. Naha, Okinawa

As i have mentioned earlier in this post, Okinawa Island happens to be the largest of the Okinawa Islands and the Ryukyu Islands of Japan, it is also the home to Naha, which is the capital of Okinawa Prefecture. What i have learn’t about Okinawa island is has an area of 1,201.03 square kilometers (463.7 sq mi), and is roughly 400 miles (640 km) south of the rest of Japan.

So what is Okinawa Prefecture, this is when you have lots of islands that create a chain, that for example with the Okinawa islands it consists of hundreds of the Ryukyu Islands in a chain over 1,000 km long, this chain goes on from which southwest from Kyūshū (the southwesternmost of Japan’s main four islands) to Taiwan. So the Okinawa Islands are approximately half-way between Kyūshū and Taiwan. There are also a group of islands known as Senkaku Islands, these islands though are disputed, this means that they are under Japanese control, but they are also being claimed by both the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the People’s Republic of China as part of Taiwan ProvinceToucheng Township in Yilan County, they are at present under administration, as part of Okinawa Prefecture.
