Virtual-Tripping races to Brands Hatch Stadium, racing course, Kent, England, UK for a post.
By Mark on February 1, 2010
V.T has had to race fast to get to Brands Hatch, motor racing course near West Kingsdown, between Sevenoakes and Swanley in Kent, England. It started back in 1964, when it was used as a dirt track motorcycle circuit on farmland and it ran for 12 years, ending in 1984.

At this moment in time it currently holds many local and international racing events. Here are some of the major series events that take place, they are: FIA Formula Two Championship, World Touring Car Championship, British Touring Car Championship, Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters, British Formula 3, British GT, British Superbike Championship and Superleague Formula. They are a wide range of motor car and motor bike races.

For all you knowledgeable motor out their you may or may not know the route around Brands Hatch, this is my quick route, it begins at Brabham Straight, then on to Paddock Hill Bend then on to Druids negotiated after an uphill braking zone at Hailwood Hill, around south bank into downhill, Graham Hill Bend, then you have Cooper Straight, then up hill to Surtees turn, followed by Pilgrim’s Drop and Hawthorn Hill, which continues on to Hawthorn Bend, carrying on to Westfield and the blind Sheene’s curve, they through the woods at Clearways and rejoins the ‘Indy’ circuit for Clark Curve, which then takes you to the pit straight and the start/finish line. Please refer to Wikipedia for a more indepth look at the course.

I wonder how many of you knew that the name Brands Hatch in Gaelic is Brondehach, Bron meaning wooded slope and hach meaning forest entrance. Here is a list of the Race for Champions held between 1965 to 1979 and then in 1983 at Brands Hatch. Sadly Brands Hatch does not host Formula One racing or the British Grand Prix, anymore that has gone to Silverstone Circuit on Google Maps, and Silverstone Circuit on Wikipedia, in Northampton shire and Buckinghamshire.
But as before in this post you will see it still hosts alot of great events, so grab your wallet and go and race, enjoy.

I love Brands Hatch. I’m not a petrolhead, but whenever me and my friends go down there we always make a weekend of it and have a lot of fun.
