Virtual-Tripping lets you come to see the English city of Sheffield.

By Mark on October 24, 2009

This is a post about the city of Sheffield which is situated within the metropolitan borough of South Yorkshire, England.
The name Sheffield actually comes from River Sheaf, which goes through the city. I have often known Sheffield as an industrial city and alot of the larger cities in the north of England, survived mainly on industrial work. You may or may not know that this city is one of the largest in the that make up the English Core Cities Group. And with the population of this country growing it will probably not surprise you that the estimated population, taken i n 2008, was around 534,500 and Sheffield extends into a larger urban area as well.

If you are ever interested about visiting Sheffield you will find that ther are plenty of things to do and see, for example
the Lyceum Theatre and the Crucible Theatre,
Millennium Galleries, which hosts the collection of the Guild of St George founded by John Ruskin, and visiting exhibitions from the Victoria and Albert Museum and Tate collections.
The Sheffield Walk of Fame in the City Centre honours famous Sheffielders in a similar way to the Hollywood version.

The Sheffield Winter Garden
The Peace Gardens.
The Botanical Gardens
Heeley City Farm Weston Park Museum, the Kelham Island Museum, the Sheffield Fire and Police Museum, Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet, and Shepherd Wheel.
Thousands of different listed buildings that go through Sheffields history.

including the whole of the Sheffield postal district Of these, only five are Grade I listed. Fifty-nine are Grade II*, but the overwhelming majority are listed as Grade II.
Also there are many parks to visit including Millhouses Park, Endcliffe Park, Graves Park this is the largest within Sheffield.
Finally there are plenty of places to walk and drive around and as this city has been built around five rivers and hillsides there is plenty to do there. Lots of pubs and shops to visit as well. Also don’t forget for you football fans out there, you have Sheffield United and there ground Bramble Lane and Sheffield Wednesday and there ground Hillsborough.

A great review. I spent a lot of time in Sheffield as a girl because I went to college nearbye and I often went to Saturday night dances at the university there.
