Virtual-Tripping has landed in Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia.

By Mark on October 1, 2009

This is the stunning northern Australian city of Darwin within the state of the Northern Territory. It is of course the capital city of this state and the largest city within this state. You will find Darwin on the Timor Sea. I have learn’t that the population of Darwin is around 120,652, and this means it is the most populated city within the Northern Territory, but it is the smallest in population when it comes to the other major Australian cities. Even though it is the smallest and the furtherest northern capital city it acts has the Top End’s regional centre.
When Darwin was first created it was a very small town with a very small port, but over time this place has grown and expanded into a major city. Darwin has now become one of the most modern and multicultural cities in Australia.
Being situated where it is, Darwin has become a major point between the Australian gateway and the Asian countries of Indonesia and East Timor. Also the mighty Stuart Highway, begins in the city of Darwin and goes all the way down the Port Augusta in South Australia.
If you have ever been to Darwin you would have noticed that the weather is quite tempremental, it has a Tropical climate with a wet and dry season, but when it rains it can be extremely heavy and it does also have amazing thunder and lightning.
I wonder how many of you know that Darwin has been rebuilt twice after the city was created, it was destroyed in World War II, by the Japanese, during air raids. And again after the tragic circumstances of Cyclone Tracy in 1974.
Did you also know that John Clements Wickham named Port Darwin, after his former shipmate and famed scientist Charles Darwin.
