Virtual-Tripping explores the Republic of Namibia and her capital city, Windhoek, Africa.

By Mark on September 23, 2009

This is a post about Windhoek City the capital of Namibia in southern Africa. It is also9 pronounced vɪnthʊk and in German, Windhuk. As with most capital cities, Windhoek is the largest in the Republic of Namibia. You will find this city within the central Khomas Region and in 2009 the population was around 306 093.
Now because this city is in the south of the world, you will find that summer is around December, January and February, where has the winter months are around une, July and August. This of course will mean that in the summer months you will find tempretures ranging from 18°C to 31°C and in the winter it can range from 0°C to 5°C at night, going up to 31°C+. It is also a city that is warm most of the year and does not appear to get much rainfall usually the average amount is d 360 millimetres (14 in), which would barely grow crops and plants. But now and again it has been know for heavy rainfall and that is through the dry and wet years, that can last anything up to ten years. But it is normally dry in Windhoek.

Here is a list of some of the sight you must see within Windhoek.
Christ Church
Parliament Gardens
Tintenpalast
St. Mary’s Cathedral,
Zoo Park,
Chambers of the Namibian legislature,
The National Council,
The National Assembly,
Alte Feste- German for “Old Fortress”. Built in 1890, today houses the National Museum,
Supreme Court of Namibia,
National Library of Namibia,
Windhoek Railway Station,
Holy Cross Convent School,
Daan Viljoen Game Reserve,
Windhoek Public Library.
As well as hotels, pubs, nightclubs, bars, winebars, hotels, hostels, Bed and Breakfast, Theatres, Cinemas, Sport Arene’s etc, etc, etc.
So I hope you enjoy your visit to the city, if you decide to go and it is not to expensive either.
