This is the walled city of Sienna, Italy, Europe.

By Mark on June 13, 2009

This was my trip to Sienna in central north of Italy, it was a very warm day, but we had so much fun, getting lost down the narrow streets and then ending up in a might big semi-circle which is the centre of the city, it was quite busy and I lost emma, if it had not been for that pink bag she had bought only the day before, who knows where she would have ended up. The reason was emma saw lots of small shops and stalls and kept wandering off leaving the rest of us behind.
Sienna is a remarkable city, it is surrounded by a massive city wall, a bit like a massive castle and yes you can get lost, there are so many small and narrow streets, where there are no pavements so you and the vehicles share the road.
It was quite expensive, but it was a treat, now you guys may or may not know that, twice yearly they have a horse race around the semi-circle city centre and the crowds flock from all over the world. To learn more about this event please refer to wikipedia at the bottom of this post. Below is a wonderful picture from panoramio of the city centre from the air.
