This is the Scottish city of Dundee.

Madainn mhath or Hallo, Welcome to the Scottish city of Dundee it is actually the fourth-largest city in Scotland , but is known as Dundee City, it is also within the Scottish 32 local government council areas. You will find Dundee City on the north bank of the Firth of Tay, which is a river that leads on to the North Sea.

There is actual evidence to suggest that Dundee has been occupied since the stone Age or Mesolithic time. It started as a town which was made into a burgh in Medieval times, and it grew at a fast rate in the 19th century this was largely due to the jute industry. Because of this industry, the city became known as “jam, jute and journalism“. also followed within the title due to there success as well. By the middle of 2006, the population of Dundee city was estimated to be 141,930, and with a metropolitan population of 159,522. The recorded population for this city was reached in the 1971 census at 182,204, but sadly the peak population has now dropped due to the decline of outward migration.

But today like alot of the british cities you will find that they are being awarded titles for certain events, ie like Dundee was promoted as the City of Discovery, this was within honour of Dundee’s history of scientific activities and of the RRS Discovery, Robert Falcon Scott’s Antarctic exploration vessel, which was built in Dundee and is now berthed in the city harbour. Also other Biomedical and technological industries have since arrived in Dundee, and because of this Dundee now accounts for 10% of the United Kingdom’s digital-entertainment industry. To round it off this city also has two universities—which are known as the University of Dundee and the University of Abertay Dundee.
