This is about Dundee cities two football clubs in Scotland, U.K.

I have decide to write a post about Dundee’s two professional football teams, they are Dundee Football Club, which was founded in 1893, it is a club that is based within the city itself. The nicknames of this club are The Dee or The Dark Blues, they play at Dens Park, Dundee, that is their home ground. Unlike their rivals Dundee United, Dundee.f.c play in the Scottish First Division, which is the second division overall. They were relegated from the Scottish Premier League, the top division in Scotland back in 2004–05 season. The manager who is incharge at the moment is is Jocky Scott who got the job on 30 October 2008, this was after Dundee sacked their previous manager Alex Rae on 20 Octber 2008 following a 2–1 home defeat to Ross County. Over the last three seasons Dunddee. f.c, have been aunable to get back into the Scottish Premier League finishing 7th in 2005–06, 3rd in 2006–07 and 2nd in 2007–08. But this year 2009/10 could be their year for promotion. Unusually for a small city like Dundee, it is a bit surprising that there are two professional teams and even more strange is that their grounds are very close to each other.
The other club are known as Dundee United Football Club, they are at present in the top division in Scotland, the Scottish Premier League. They were formed back in 1909, and were originally known back then as as Dundee Hibernian. But it was in 1923, that the club changed it’s name to Dundee United, their nicknames are are The Terrors and the supporters known as The Arabs. Since the 1960′s Dundee United have been playing in tangerine colured kits and have played at thier present ground, Tannadice Park, since they were founded back in 1909. Dundee United have been in the Premier division since it was created back in 1998, known as the (SPL) or Scottish Premier League. The major share holders of this club belong to the the family of the late Eddie Thompson, who was the chairman from September 2002 until sadly his death in October 2008. The supporters under the guise of ArabTRUST, own the second largest shareholding. Back in 2008–09, Tannadice Park attracted an average attendance of 8,654, the sixth-highest in the SPL.
On the home front you will find that Dundee United have won the Scottish Premier Division only one occasion, they have also won the Scottish Cup once and the Scottish League Cup twice. Now this club has been quite successful when it comes to European competitions, they started playing in European competition for the first time at the end of the 1964–65 season, they went on to appear in European competition in 14 successive seasons from 1976, reaching a European Cup semi-final and UEFA Cup final. Uniquely, the club has a 100% record against Barcelona in competitive European ties.
So if you ever get the chance to visit the beautiful city of Dundee, and you are interested in football, then go and watch a game, Scottish Football has a bad name next to the English football league, but I think that the Scottish teams are just as good as the English teams on their day.
