The Southern Mediterranean Proudly Presents MALTA and GOZO

By Mark on June 6, 2008

The islands of Malta and Gozo lie in the Mediterrnean sea of the south coast of Italy. There is a third island called Comino, which lies between Malta and Gozo. The summers are very Mediterranean like with dry, hot weather and mild, moist winters. The islands has some beaches, but mainly rocky beaches rather than golden sand, but there are a few places with sand. The economy of these islands rely on foreign trade. tourism and the manufacturing of electronics and textiles. Tourism is very big in Malta, either though they speak their own native tongue of Maltese, the islands speak English, so there are no language barriers.

valletta

This is a photo of the capital city of Valletta from an arieal view. It shows a very historical side to the city with wall going around the city. And just by looking at this picture shows you how hot is it in that country.

Great pictures. Do you know if that wall around Valletta was built to keep the sea out, or enemies during the war?
