The Roman Catholic Vatican City, Rome, Italy, Europe.

This post is about the independant Papel ,the Roman Catholic Vatican City which is situated within Rome, the capital city of Italy. It is the home to the pope and cardinals, clergy, the Papal Swiss Guard and lay persons etc. The cities population taken in 2008 was estimated at around 900 people. Alot of people from all over the world not just the christian faith followers visit the city quite reguarly, especially during the religious feasts ie Christmas, Easter etc. The Pope is also the Monarch, which makes him have full power of the city.
The most visited part of the city is the Sistine chapel was decorated by some of the greatest Renaissance artists including Michelangelo, Raphael, Bernini, and Sandro Botticelli , where thousands will queue up for ages just to see this magnificent place.
Where as certain parts of modern day Italian provinces like Lazio, Marche, Umbria and parts of Emilia-Romagna, became unified into Italy around 1870, the Vatican was given more territory to expand.
