First thing to say is sadly, I was unable to get any pictures of Rugby from Flickr, but I did manage some other pictures close to Rugby. The four pictures that I have got are two to do with the river avon and two to do with building’s. These picture’s kind of give you an idea as how Rugby looks.
Welcome to the small market town of Rugby in Warwickshire, England, Europe. It is situated in the West Midlands of England, on the River Avon, apart from the largest place in the county of Warwickshire, which is Nuneaton and Bedworth, joined together, Rugby is actually the second largest town in the county, ahead of the towns Stratford-on-Avon and Warwick. It was estimated that the population of Rugby back in 2001 was 61,988 and the larger Borough of Rugby had an estimate population dating from 2005 of 91,600. You will find Rugby, quite easily, if you head towards the Midland’s city of Coventry, it is then only about 13 miles or 21 km east from the city, and it is actually situated on the eastern edge of county Warwickshire, quite close to the other English borders of Northamptonshire and Leicestershire.
Now this may come as a surprise to you or not, but Rugby the town happens to the be the birth place of rugby football in England.

The modern day version of Rugby is united area of the original town and this includes some of the former villages, which were then incorporated into Rugby in 1932, this was when the town became a borough of Rugby.they are Bilton, Hillmorton, Brownsover and Newbold-on-Avon. Apart from the village of Brownsover, you will find that the other villages have managed to keep their village centres, which is nice for the people there and for visitors, and goes on to show people what life was like back in the olden days. There are also two other places in Rugby they are New Bilton and Overslade. But as this town carry’s on growing it will just take over other villages along the way for example the Rugby has nearly reached the villages of Clifton-upon-Dunsmore, Cawston, Dunchurch and Long Lawford.

If you get the chance to visit Rugby, you will find it is a modern town in an Victorian era, as well as having older building’s. For the people who do not know of Queen Victoria, she ruled from 20 June 1837 aged 18 – 22 January 1901 when she died aged 81. Which often makes a nice sight to see. It has been said that Rugby is known as a ‘Butterfield’ town as designed by William Butterfield in the 19th century, including much of Rugby School and the extension of St Andrews church.

There is plenty to do and see at Rugby including restaurants of various kinds, many pubs, and a nightclub. This also includes the Brownsover Fish Bar on Hollowell Way, Brownsover, and it was actually named the best seller of Fish and Chips in the county of Warwickshire. The town centre is renowned for it’s pubs as there are plenty of them. If you would like to go shopping, the shops are around the Clock Tower, to hich two of the streets, High Street and Sheep are pedestrianised, meaning plenty of room for walking. In 1980, Rugby opened it’elf up to an indoor shopping centre named The Clock Towers, you will find a street market at Rugby and Parks. Finally with bed and breakfast and hotels there is plenty to do and see at Rugby.
