The gorgeous looking largest town of the Isles of Scilly, Cornwall, England, UK on Virtual-Tripping.

This is all about the largest town, Hugh Town on the largest Island, St.Mary’s of the Scilly Isles in Cornwall, England. The Scilly Isle are located on the south-west of the English county. They consist of five inhabited islands and alot of small rocky islets, there is around 140 in total. These Islands and Islets are about 45 km (28 miles) off Land’s End in Cornwall. As Hugh Town is the largest place in the Isles of Scilly, the population is over a thousand and this is where the most of the population live. The town is a very popular place for tourists and it has a very important shopping area on the island’s, which does rely on tourists. Plenty of places to see, banks, hotels, pubs, beaches, parks, walks and boat rides. There is also a notable building is the Star Castle, which is now a hotel.
For the traveller, you can catch a ferry from the main quay in Hugh Town to Penzance, Cornwall, England. You can also fly if you would prefer, there is a local airport, just outside of Hugh Town, where you can catch a helicopter or small plane to Penzance. The airport is the main airport on the Isles of Scilly.
Some things you may not know about, firstly, Hugh Town that once belonged to the British crown, in 1949, was sold to the inhabitants. The rest of the island belongs to the Duchy of Cornwall. Finally the former British Prime Minister Harold Wilson, the island of St.Mary’s, became his home and final resting area after is sad death in 1995.
