One of Scandinavia’s European Country, Sweden.
By Mark on September 24, 2008
This is my post on Sweden, one of five Scandinavian countries, the others are Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Norway. All situated in north-western Europe, which forms a peninsula bounded by the Artic Ocean in the north, to the east you have the Gulf of Bothnia, in the west they have the Atlantic Ocean and to the south of Scandinavia there the Kattegat and the skagerrak rivers connect to he Baltic sea. Sweden is situated north-central with Finland to the right and Norway to the left and Denmark and Germany to the south. As you can see below here are pictures and photo’s of Scandinavia, Sweden, Capital city Stockholm and other places enjoy.

Sweden is built up of forest mountains in the north of the country and part of it is within the Artic Circle. Because Sweden is connected to Norway, it is known as the Scandinavian peninsula and the highest mountain within the region is the Kebnekkaise, which reaches in height 2,117 metres or 6,946 feet. In the southern part of Sweden, there are lowlands and rivers and they are where the majority of the population live. The climate in Sweden is warm during the summer time, but in the winter it can be very cold, especially the further north you go.

The natural resources of Sweden range from coniferous trees, mineral deposits and water resources. In the south you will find cereals, diary products, meat and vegetables which are all home produced. Many exports are often of the wood kind, ie pulp, paper and furniture. But Sweden does also have Iron ore and copper are mined and exported, also other materials which are mined are gold, lead, silver and zinc. The majority of trade is within the European Communities.

Sweden has alot of history most relating to the vikings. Here is the start of the history of Sweden taken from wikipedia for assistance to this post and if you click here you can go on to the page and learn alot about this Scandinavian country and enjoy it you maybe surprised, how strong this country once was. Here is the article from Wikipedia: Modern Sweden emerged out of the Kalmar Union formed in 1397 and by the unification of the country by King Gustav Vasa in the 16th century. In the 17th century Sweden expanded its territories to form the Swedish empire. Most of these conquered territories had to be given up during the 18th century. In the early 19th century Finland and the remaining territories outside the Scandinavian peninsula were lost. After its last war in 1814, Sweden entered into a personal union with Norway which lasted until 1905. Since 1814, Sweden has been at peace, adopting a non-aligned foreign policy in peacetime and neutrality in wartime.

Thanks for painting Sweden in a positive light, Mark. The Daily Mail did quite the opposite, asking “Is Sweden the most boring country in the world?“

The red building from fagelsjo is most likely a church. It might have been converted to a home, but it’s definitly not a typical one.
