My short break to York.
By Mark on April 11, 2010
I am sorry, but I wanted to write again about what you can find in the city of York, so here we go again. What always surprises me is that when I go away to York, it amazes me that there is always things to do in this city and even when you are only away for a short while, I still come home and think there where things and places to see and do which I did not have enough time to do, any way, I really did not see the point in showing you the same pictures as you would have seen most of them by now. But I have put a couple in anyway, enjoy, this is a post about my visit to York City, I love going to York it is my favourite place in the U.K, Why do I love it so much well it is full of so much history and everywhere you go there is something extra-ordinary to see in my eyes. There are so many shops up there that you will end spending most of the time shopping, there is Next, HMV, Browns, Debenhams, Marks and Spencers, Betty’s tea room and Little Betty’s tea room, Zara, H.M.Samuel, Fat Face, BHS, WHSmith, Nero Cafe, banks, building Societies, Sweet shops, Jewelry Shops, Pubs, Bars, Nightclubs, Bar and Grill, Macdonalds, Pizza Express, Hut and Tuscany, Holland and Barrett, Topman and Topshop, Gift Shops and so on and so on.

Then you have events and places to see and visit, like, the ghost Walk and ghost Hunt, boat rides, open top bus rides, tourist walk around the castle walls, Castle museum, Fairfax house, York Dungeons, National Railway museum, historic museums, York football stadium and so on and on War museum, I could go on and on, but I have probably mentioned alot about the events at York before. There really is to much to talk about, you should visit the city itself.
The people of York really are very nice and friendly to talk to, they are very helpful and if you ever get lost you will be helped. As it was Easter it was very busy up there, but because of this , all the street entertainers where out, the one that took my eye, was the man who chained himself up and then had to remove the chains within 2 minutes, it really was amazing and he did it twice, we saw this event, another man juggled three large balls whilst bouncing on a bouncy hopper, great singers and muscial groups everywhere. It was fantastic. And of course we must not forget the York Minster and it’s garden park. So much family entertainment up there. Emma and I enjoyed a crepe, which is like a pancake and it had lemon and sugar on.

The hotel in which we stayed was only three stars, but it was really nice, we have been there before, but it really was good, buffet style breakfast eat as much as you like. A bar and grill restaurant, gymnasium, bar, lovely gardens, and very comfortable rooms, it was the Park Inn, formerly known as the Moat House hotel. The train station is literally near within walking distance of the hotel and there are lots of sandwich shops if you want a quick snack, and pie and pastry shops, bakeries etc, so you will never go hungry. Restaurants, there are to many it is so wrong, you will not know which one to eat in and the prices are not to bad. But I would recommend Russell’s restaurant as it is a cavery roast and you can eat as much as you like to a point, it is well worth it.
Finally you hit the Shambles, voted quite recently as the most beautiful part of York and the U.K, it is great, lots of old style shops down a pebbled pathway, and it is not all as expensive as you may think. This is a Touristic area and it shows you alot of what life was like back in the Edwardian and Victorian days, it is great. There is also a lively market, around this area every day, probably more closer to the city centre part, but if you have never been to a market then you do not know what you are missing.
GO AND VISIT YORK CITY IT IS REALLY FANTASTIC, AND TO PROVE THIS EVEN THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN AND AROUND YORK, WOULD RATHER LIVE HERE THAN ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE U.K.
