Lets go to Disneyland in Urayasu, Chiba, Tokyo, Japan.

By Mark on March 31, 2010

Tokyo Disneyland is a large 115 acre theme park , which is located in Urayasu, Chiba, Japan at the Tokyo Disney Resort. The main front entrance gate is adjacent to both Maihama Station and Tokyo Disneyland Station. This park was actually the first Disneyland theme to be created outside of the United States of America and it opened on the 15th April 1983. They wanted the park to be quite simular to the two in America, so the park was constructed by Walt Disney Imagineering to be the same type of style as the Disneyland in California and Magic Kingdom in Florida.

But at the same time they also needed it to be slightly Oriental, to attract the local public. The park is owned by the Oriental Land Company, and they licence it from the Walt Disney Company.  But there are two parts of the resort which are not owned by the the Walt Disney Company, they are Tokyo Disneyland and its companion park, Tokyo DisneySea.

So what does this resort have, well there are several different themed areas within the resort and each of them has it’s own unique style, they are Adventureland, Westernland, Fantasyland and Tomorrowland, which are the four classic disney lands, there is also two miniland’s which are Critter Country and Mickey’s Toontown and the World Bazaar.

Now surprisingly or not it is a massive resort, this is because the population of Japan in 2010 is 127,430,000, now that is double the population of Great Britain and I assure you, that the two countries are not to disimular in size, possibly Japan is longer, but not hugely longer. So having such a large population, they needed a large resort. It has been noted for having so much large space in the resort, but this is to accomodate, the massive crowds that attend each day. In 2007, Tokyo, Disneyland hosted a massive 13.9 million people and this went on to make it the third-most visited park in the world, behind its American sister parks, Magic Kingdom and Disneyland, WOW!, thats alot of people in one place.

I’ve been there a few times. It’s great during off-peak hours, but terribly crowded during weekends and holidays as you can imagine. It is in Tokyo, after all.
