We are going for a virtual trip around the Jordan, but i bet you did not know that this country is officially known as the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, it lies in the Southwest of Asia and actually goes quite away along the southern part of the Syrian Desert down to the Gulf of Aqaba. The bordering nations of Jordan are syria to the north, Iraq over to the north-east, with the West Bank and Israel to the west and with the kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the south and east of Jordan. This country also borders the coastline of the Gulf of Aqaba with Israel, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt. We do know that the majority of the country is mainly desert, but you can see some greenery and fertile areas in the north-west.

The capital city of Jordan is Amman which you will find in the north-west. Did you also know that this country is actually pro-western, which may seem quite strange when most of her neighbours apart from Israel are mainly anti-western, not all but most are. This means that Jordan as very close relationships with many of the big western nations, like United States of America, the United Kingdom and France. The majority of Jordanains are mainly sunni-muslim, but some are of christianity beliefs.

To learn more about this country you can find information on Wikipedia, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan happens to be a constitutional monarchy with representative government, which is quite simular to the british monarchy. The king is the head of state, the chief executive and the commander-in-chief of the armed forces. There is also a cabinet, where you will find prime ministers and Council of Ministers, or cabinet. The judicial branch is an independent branch of the government.

There is so much to say about Jordan and her history, because so much has happened over time it has been under rule of many different empires and tribes including Akkadian, Assyrian, Judean, Babylonian, Persian empires and the Pharaonic Egypt. Plus it has been under rule from western nations including Macedonian, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman Turkish empires. Finally, even though this country Since the seventh century the area has been under Muslim and Arab cultures, with the exception of a brief period when the west of the area formed part of the Crusader Kingdom of Jerusalem and a short time under British rule.
