Hungary and Capital city Budapest.
By Mark on August 27, 2008
Hi this is Mark here, I have been doing these blogs for two to three months now and I really enjoy doing them as I keep saying, but now and again I like to try something different. This time rather having me write about Hungary, I am giving you the opportunity to find out about Hungary yourselves with my assistance, at the bottom of this page are a number of links to help you explore and find out what this country is really like, so please take this opportunity and see. The history of Hungary is massive and if i was to write about this country you would become very bored, so by having musical videos, you can now enjoy this post as I do.

This is a picture taken from Google Earth of Hungary and her surrounding neighbours.
That Hungary in situated in central to eastern Europe surrounded by up to seven different countries you have Austria and Slovenia to the west and to the east you have Ukraine and Romania, to the north you have Slovakia and to the south you have Croatia and Serbia. The Danube river goes right through the centre of the country from the north to the south. To the east of the country the river heads off to the river Tisza and pasturelands and other areas suitable for agriculture. To the west the river goes to bakony forest where it meets up with lake balton the largest and deepest lake in central Europe. The summers are warm in Hungary, but the winters are very cold and even colder than western Europe.

Remember Hungary goes back to the Roman times and these provinces of the romans were attacked and taken by the Germanic tribes in the dark ages and then conquered by the Charlemagne’s. By 896 the Magyars who had originated from Indonesia settled in Hungary and the then known Magyar Kingdom was created. To which it lasted until the massive Mongol attack in 1241, almost wiping out the Mygar population and by 1301, the Mygar Kingdom and the Arpad were gone and the crown was then passed on to a foreigner. Much much more history goes on about Hungary, being involved with the Ottoman Empire, the Habsburg Empire and the Austria-Hungary Empire. And with many revolutions and independance this country has had alot of problems and been involved in many wars and many different parties have taken control of the country and with refugees from Romanian Transylvania and the break up of Yugoslavia, it is surprising how well she has coped. I do also know that Hungary joined NATO and EU in 2004. Today the country is coping as well as she can and you could even say that for the first time in the history of Hungary, that the country is stable.

Budapest is a bubbling city with plenty to see and do, so if you are ever on a trip around Europe, you really should go as this country as some exciting places to visit and see from a castle to a fortress, Parliament to a Palace and Museums, Cathedrals, Churches and much much more, parks, restaurants, and wine bars and shops you will find pretty much anything apart from beaches. So go and explore one of the oldest and most famous cities of all Budapest and go and see different parts of the Danube River. Plus you can enjoy the whole country and her mystical side towards Transylvania, in Romania.
