Football Extravanganza comes to Austria and Switzerland
By Mark on May 16, 2008
This year’s European Football Championships comes to the beautiful countries of Austria and Switzerland. It all starts on Saturday 7th June, kicking off in Basel, Switzerland and ends on Sunday 29th June in Vienna, Austria. Austria and Switzerland are the jewel in the eye in the central part of Europe. With lovely scenery from the hills and the countryside. I found that a lot of the houses especially in Switzerland are quite close to the edges of the hillsides and look a lot like cuckoo clocks, it is so fascinating. A lot of tourists travel to Switzerland and Austria to go skiing in the Alps. In Austria Danube river valley is the most agricultural land and has most of the population living within the area.

This picture above is of central Europe where you can see Austria and Switzerland which are surrounded by many other European countries including the main business trading country of Germany to the north of the countries and Italy to the south.

This is the city of Basel where the competition for the European Football Championships will begin. Learn more about Switzerland’s second largest city here. Basel is on the border of France and Germany, on the river Rhine, and is the third most populated city in the country.

This is the picture from Google Earth of the capital city of Vienna. And will be the city that hosts the final for the Euro 2008 championships. Vienna is one of the oldest historical cities in Europe and once was a Celtic city (500 BC).

I can’t wait for Euro 2008! Without England in it, we might get to see some quality football!
Good post Mark. You’re really getting the hang of this blogging lark!

Cheers bro, I have to say I agree for once. Especially as us brits don’t count ourselves as Europeans. Bring back the British Championships, England would win all the time. It is a good post I agree thanks.
